Redox Metabolism (RM SRF)

Overview of Services

The Redox Metabolism Shared Resource Facility (RM SRF) provides expertise and services in redox metabolism, oxidative stress, mitochondrial function, and proteomics to basic and clinical investigators of the Markey Cancer Center (MCC) doing basic, pre-clinical, and clinical research. The RM SRF’s metabolomics capacity compliments existing Markey science and existing Seahorse technology, oxidative stress measures and proteomics identification of key proteins.

Begin Using RM SRF Services

To start using RM SRF services, you first need to register for an iLab account. This one-time registration will enable you to place service requests, provide required approvals, and monitor progress. Once your account has been accepted, assigned to a principal investigator and assigned a fund number, you can submit requests and/or place orders and schedule equipment time.

If you are a principal investigator, you may also receive email requests from researchers wishing to join your group. The request email will contain specific instructions on how to approve the request.

To register for an account:

  1. In the upper-right-hand corner of the screen, select the “Login” icon.
  2. Login using your institution credentials (if you are at the University of Kentucky, this is your LinkBlue ID and password). If you are not a UK user and do not have an iLab account, you will need to register for an iLab account.
  3. Upon successful authentication, you will be prompted to select your PI/lab from the pull-down list and provide your phone number.
  4. Submit the completed registration form. Submission will notify your PI of your lab membership request.
  5. You will be sent an email with basic instructions on using the system at this time. However, you will not be able to place orders with your new account until your PI has approved your lab membership request.

Once your account is set up, if you have questions about creating a service request in iLab or using any of the iLab tools, please contact Dr. Savita Sharma (savita.sharma@uky.edu).

Acknowledging a Resource in Your Research

Markey Cancer Center shared resources are supported primarily by the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) from the National Cancer Institute (P30 CA177558). Additional support may be provided from other sources, such as chargeback systems, institutional funding and/or other grants. CCSG support allows our shared resource facilities to provide benefits to cancer center members, such as ensured access to services or subsidies to user rates.

Please use the following statement to acknowledge Markey Cancer Center Shared Resources in your research papers, publications and grant applications. (Note: Please also consider including the names of individuals from the shared resources if they provided any intellectual input or additional effort, in consultation with Markey Shared Resource directors.

"This research was supported by the Redox Metabolism Shared Resource Facility of the University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center (P30CA177558)."
